This comprehensive approach to linguistic analysis is also reflected in this volume, which contains rich and substantial contributions concerning many different aspects of the noun phrase. Together they constitute the grammatical component, which in its turn interacts with a cognitive and a communicative component. In its current form, FDG has an explicit top-down organization and distinguishes four hierarchically organized, interacting levels: (i) the interpersonal level (language as communicational process), (ii) the representational level (language as a carrier of content), (iii) the morphosyntactic level and (iv) the phonological level. ![]() Aims and Scope The articles in this volume analyse the noun phrase within the framework of Functional Discourse Grammar (FDG), the successor to Simon C. ![]()

![]() What I like about this was how quick and fun it was to read. ![]() Monsters and Mythical Creatures from around the World By Heather Frigiola with Illustrations by Sky Cyble for allowing me to receive this ARC in exchange for an honest review! ![]() I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher Schiffer Publishing Ltd. All in all you could say that I really enjoyed reading this book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes to learn more about the myths of this world. But at the same time I liked to learn about the myths from the rest of the world. I was most curious about the European myths since I am from Europe and I'm therefore more familiar with them. Now some creatures I wouldn't mind meeting in the dark but most of them I'd rather not, since what they have in common is death and pain for anyone that they encounter. Also, while reading this book I found myself fascinated by the differences between the creatures appearances in this book and how they are shown in the movies. Since they are myths there can be more than one description of how the creature looked like, so I was sometimes surprised by the authors picks. Also the illustrations help a lot with imagining those creatures. ![]() You get a ton of information but not to the point where it's overwhelming. If I had to sum up this book I'd say it's very interesting and informative. In Madame Bovary, his story of a shallow, deluded, unfaithful, but consistently compelling woman living in the provinces of nineteenth-century France, Gustave Flaubert invented not only the modern novel but also a modern attitude toward human character and human experience that remains with us to this day. Book Synopsis Texas Turtles & Crocodilians by : Troy D. ![]() ![]() The small splinter of hope that thought gave Thetis was short-lived. ![]() Fate could not be avoided, so it must be endured.Īt least Achilles had been given a choice. But she, too, was a deity, born of the water, daughter of Nereus, an ancient sea god, and she knew all too well that the prophecies of the gods could not be avoided-that to run from them left only chaos and heartbreak and ruined lives in the wake of consequences. Thetis wished she could deny the truth of it or even simply run from the choices the great god had revealed. And today her soul wept for what Zeus’s oracle had revealed to her. He was magnificent-her golden eaglet, her pride, her heart-her Achilles. Though he had barely lived sixteen summers he more closely resembled the man and warrior he would become than the child she’d held at her bosom what seemed but a moment ago. ![]() He had not yet noticed her, so she took the opportunity to study him carefully. With that odd, almost preternatural sense of calm that had been his to command even as a babe, he stood on the beach staring with quiet intensity at the distant, watery horizon. Her son was already there, awaiting her arrival. ![]() Thetis of the Silver Feet rose from the depths of the hidden cove. ![]() |
